Introduction

The initial aim of this website has principally been to create a forum in which to air my own views, understandings and thoughts in relation to Evolution for the purpose of testing their worth; ultimately, however, the aim is much wider.

My thoughts have taken me to a place that places a great deal of importance, not specifically for evolution itself but certainly for the human race, on the way in which we, as thinking entities, understand our position within the context of existence. The process of evolution has taken itself to the stage where in our small volume of the universe the significance of Phenomenal Evolution is increasing. This significance rests primarily on the impact that the potential for error within the Phenomenal Universe can have on the error free state of the Physical Universe. These concepts are discussed at length in the website.
My hope is that the website will become an area for discussion on many subjects.
I am not an academic or a scientist and my knowledge base on most subjects is limited. I have started, however, to broaden my horizons and have found evolution in particular to be an extremely interesting subject; not least because it is inherent in everything that exists. I have no way of knowing if my ideas are new, outdated or just plain ridiculous but while others may well, unknown to me, have had the same or similar ideas, it has been very satisfying to reach stages in my thinking that I believe have been arrived at internally as opposed to being taken on board from external sources; recognising of course that the prior thinking of others is essential in the evolution of any expansion of knowledge and understanding.
It was Darwin’s book On The Origin of Species that first initiated me in thinking seriously about evolution. I now believe that it should be an obligatory text in all schools; not specifically for what it says about Natural Selection but for the underlying importance of the concepts it expresses in relation to all evolutionary activity, be that in personal relationships, science, nature, business or any other aspect of existence – we should all have an understanding of evolution as a concept. I do not, in fact, concur with Darwin’s placement of Natural Selection in the hierarchy of development of life forms; for me it is a process occurring in that development and not the process of that development – a fundamental and very important distinction that I feel is not fully appreciated.
Darwin recognises1]the ‘generally acknowledged’ two great laws of Unity of Type and Conditions of Existence as the basis for the formation of all organic beings and he states that of these Conditions of Existence is the higher law. He then chooses to use the term ‘Conditions of Life’ as opposed to ‘Conditions of Existence’ in connection with his presentation of the concepts of Natural Selection and Decent with Modification. He sees Natural Selection as the basis of his understanding, not of evolution per se, but of the advance of nature, of living things, and he talks of its principle embracing the expression of conditions of existence. My contention is that in fact Condition of Existence embraces Natural Selection.
Existence is about hierarchy. Condition of Existence and Evolution are components of that hierarchical order. In structuring this website the aim has been to introduce an element of hierarchy into the development of an understanding of existence; hence articles are presented in three basic sets of topics, The Primary Topics, The Secondary Topics and General Topics. The intent being that the Primary Topics are lower down in the hierarchy, the Secondary Topics derive from the Primary Topics and the General Topics in turn derive from the Secondary Topic – this is in reality very simplistic but, it is hoped, forms an arguably structurally sound basis for an understanding of evolution.
